Solar Wind Claim, Thomas Range, Utah, USA 2014 – By Jürgen Margraf
In may 2014 I flew with two mineral friends to Utah to make a project together with our partners at the famous “Solar Wind Claim”, located in the Thomas Range. The trip was perfectly organized, so early next day we started south, took the old “Pony Express Road” and reached the claim at the north end of Thomas Range. To save time, we slept in two trailers. With a trackhoe John excavated the interesting parts in the Rhyolite rock after that hard work followed to find the rare Bixbyites and Topaz crystals. In one week a nice quantity of good specimens was found and we refilled the claim.
The “Solar Wind Claim” is private, collecting without permit is not allowed.
